5.0 out of 5 stars The journey is on.... September 5, 2013

Tony and Evo have to leave their California home due to the bedlam that is closing in on them. When the lights go out, that is the final straw. First stop is at Dave's in the Mojave - he is an old friend of Tony's and there is an open invitation for a visit. The outcome of this visit is Dave's strong suggestion for Tony and Evo to go Crater Lake in Oregon. Before their departure, however, the biker gang rolls in to Nirvana. The outcome is not good for Dave.

So, the journey is on and what an incredible one it is. Meeting the Beards and the Snoods along the way is a "revelation". A couple more people are loaded into the Rovy before their journey continues. And, Cosmo, the dog, has been a passenger since the Mojave.

The characters are most likeable and luckily they all get along well. If one was going to spend a long winter in the mountains with a group of people, one should hope they are agreeable! Wait until you meet Percy, a HAM friend of Dave's. Unique is the best description for him.

I really enjoyed the fly fishing scenes for trout and salmon. The reader can sympathize easily with the big one that always seems to get away. I also thoroughly enjoyed the author's wonderful sense of humor. The back and forth between Tony and Evo while traveling towards Oregon is outstanding.

This book is not without some sad moments which gives this story that down to earth feeling.

Highly recommended.
